May Events at Virtue Cider
We are officially springing into action with spring hours and lots of fun events at our farm in Fennville! Farmer's markets, something special for Mom, and our first outdoor concert of the year are all in store for May.
May Events for Virtue Cider
This Thursday, May 3, we are kicking off our First Thursdays Market programming with a Farmer's Market featuring local producers and makers. Among the vendors will be Mud Lake Farm, Chicken Scratch Farm, Spice Crazy Cottage by Bill Galligan, Breezy's Acre Farm, SAMM & Co, Tannery Creek Farm, Mad Ropes, and of course Virtue Cider! We will also host live music by Olivia Mainville & The Aquatic Troupe.
Moving into the weekend, we're celebrating spring with Lapinette Weekend on May 5 and 6. We'll be tapping a special firkin of our spring release cider, Lapinette, and will feature springtime fun all weekend, learning about rabbit care with Virtue farmer Tim Baerwald and our new rescue rabbit, Grimes. Help us break in the new outdoor sport courts with a pétanque tournament and horse shoes!
Toast the mom or mom-figures in your life during Mother's Day Weekend. Our Bottle Shop and Tasting Room will feature cheese and cider pairings, nature walk tours through our 48-acre property, and a potted herb sale. Pick up a plant, take some cider outside, and enjoy our grounds with your favorite mom on Saturday, May 12 and Sunday, May 13.
Just down the road in Grand Rapids is the second annual Cider Week GR, from May 13 to May 19 at various locations. You can see our full line-up of Virtue activities here, and we'll be pouring at the Gillett Bridge Festival on Saturday, May 19. This week coincides with the Great Lakes International Cider and Perry Competition, so wish us luck! We have not only some of our best ciders in the running, but our very own cidermakers have their own personal home-blended ciders entered as well.
Want to learn the ways of the farm, or perhaps you seek some knowledge from the pros? Join us for our series of Farm Chats this spring. For Thursday, May 17: Perhaps you've done your first plantings, or are gearing up for landscaping your yard or orchard. Third-generation fruit farmer Justin Hunsberger of Hunsburger Orchards will join us in the Tasting Room to walk us through proper and responsible tree care.
We'll cap off May with our first Live Concert of 2018. On Saturday, May 26, we are thrilled to welcome Chicago-based musician Ryley Walker and Bruce Lamont to the Virtue Cider open-air stage for some warm weather vibes. It's a $10 suggested donation, and both artists are releasing new albums. Do not miss! More details here.
Because it's Memorial Day weekend, we have to host a cookout. Sunday, May 27 is your best bet for barbecue, cider, and outdoor good times. Feel free to stop by to sit down and eat with us, or swing by our Bottle Shop for cider to-go. We've got lots of cans that are great for backyards and beaches!
Virtue Cider is now open seven days a week from noon to 7pm, unless we are hosting an evening event. In those cases, closing times will be noted on that event details. Feel free to contact us to host your next party, too! We offer tours and private event packages all year long. See you this spring!
