The houses we build, the places we go, the monuments we create, are all part of the physical world around us. Humans inherently are creators. We pour our passion into our society, yet sometimes when all order fails, only our physical imprints our left. This podcast serves to tell the history of those people and places that have fallen through the cracks of time. Welcome, to The Abandoned Podcast.
Joe Heath has been producing The Abandoned Podcast since 2017. Recently this podcast took a hiatus and is returning for its second live episode and fall season in 2019. Joe has been an audio producer for many years and is thrilled to share his admiration for stories and audio drama at Virtue Cider. This live episode will focus on the southwest region of Michigan as well as some haunting tales from the surrounding area, including Chicago and Indiana. The midwest is a treasure trove of tales about pioneers and settlers starting to build their lives here. This episode will focus on the people, places, and ruins of time that has passed here in the Lake Michigan region.
Michigan is known for its abandoned places, Detroit being one of them. However, there is a small town in central Michigan that was abandoned long ago and is rumored to be cursed by a witch, her grave still stands alone, as one of the only relics that is left of Pere Cheney. To the west lies another tract of land that has decayed over time, the once lush Gary, Indiana sits still among the ruins of industry and change. Further south, the site of the Murder Farm of LaPorte, Indiana. Enjoy tales of our local midwest history in this hour long live reading of the spooky and tragic abandonment that surrounds us.
